Traveling in South Africa can be challenging. The Safari Lodge is approximately 7-8 hours away, and half of the drive out to the bush is on unmarked, poorly maintained gravel, sand, and tar roads. GPS can be unreliable. South Africa is left-hand drive, which can be terrifying for those who are from right-hand drive countries. You’d have to leave at 5 am to arrive in time for lunch, and going on safari after a stressful 8-hour drive isn’t fun. Please trust us with that advice.
As a service, Eagle Eye Safaris offers a ground transportation package for those who do not want to rent a car and brave the roads, or pay the high price of a private flight to the Lodge.
We highly recommend taking a full day to relax prior to safari. This two-night schedule allows you to adapt to the time change, get a good night’s sleep, and arrive at the Lodge refreshed and ready for safari.
Arrival night in Johannesburg with airport pickup and overnight at a cozy Guest House not too far from the airport so you can recover from your long flight — B&B lodging included.
Next day, fly to Nelspruit (MQP) in the late morning after a sumptuous breakfast. Flight not included, but averages $250 round trip on South African Airways. We can advise the best flight times.
We’ll provide airport pickup and overnight in Nelspruit at a top B&B Guest House with an incredible view, outstanding service, and exquisite rooms. If you take a suggested late morning flight, you can enjoy the 2pm tour of Chimp Eden (Dr. Jane Goodall’s rescue/rehab facility; not included but we can have it booked for you). You can relax, watch the sun set over the valley with a cocktail in hand, then have dinner on the property at Orange Restaurant, one of the finest dining experiences to be had in Africa (not included). Settle into your comfy bed for a good night’s rest. Wake up refreshed and ready for safari! Our vehicle will pick you up after breakfast around 10:30 am for the 3-hour drive to the Safari Lodge. Our service uses clean new vehicles with safe, friendly, English-speaking drivers who will be happy to tell you about the sights and culture of the areas through which you will travel. Don’t worry, there is time built in for a few short stops.
You’ll arrive at the Lodge rested and relaxed, with plenty of time to settle in before our delicious lunch, after which we will hop into the safari vehicles for the afternoon game drive. You are on safari!
On the last day, we’ll enjoy the morning game drive, have our last decadent breakfast, and the vehicle will depart at 11:00 to transport you back to Nelspruit Airport for the 16:40 flight to Johannesburg. Please do not book a return flight earlier than 16:40 as the vehicle can not leave early. We can advise on you on specific flight numbers to book for the best, most stress-free experience.
Prices are in Rand and are per person double-occupancy (single occupancy/solo supplement available). Please disregard the dates shown; your booking will apply to your safari dates. We can book additional nights in Johannesburg at your request.
